Countown to Love

The fabulosity that is Ms. Darlene Love will appear on David Letterman this Friday night, December 23rd. (10:30 p.m. Central). Ms. Thing (Thang if you live in Texas) will belt out her traditional "Christmas Baby/Please Come Home" and it is a spectacle NOT to be missed.

In the presence of her powerful pipes and musical magic, all anger will cease. The blind will see, the tone-deaf will hear and the Spirit of Christmas will descend from the heavens and slap you silly with the enormous Holiday Harp of Harmonious Hallelujahs. (Okay...Christmas Harp...for all of you who are drinking Bill O' Reilly's "War On Christmas" Kool-Aid)

And ALL the people will say, "AMEN!"
Five days and counting. You have been warned.

Hmmmm how exciting! But oh, so late...I don't know if I can hold it together that long. Maybe I'll tape it!

Those swinging earrings are so joyful! Just the thing to get me energized on a Monday morning (or a Friday night).

You've piqued my interest. But, alas, I only get ABC. That's right. We only get one channel on our 32" TV. Why?

We use an antenna and apparently because of all the large rock formations nearby, we just get this one channel. We opted out of cable since we both have a nasty habit of zoning out and watching crap if the TV is on. So, with only one channel, we tend to keep it off and move onto other things. But, the downside is that we can't check out things like Ms. Darlene Love or the NFL on Sundays.

Hoping this will be the thing to get me into the so-far-elusive spirit.

Thanks for the heads up!

1960s singer whose music was produced by Phil Specter. Solo act. She is also an actress who played Danny Glover's wife in all of the "Lethal Weapon" movies. Now she's doing Broadway stuff. Every year..for at least as long as Letterman has been at CBS, she's on the show a few days prior to Christmas Eve.

I'm glad you posted about her (did you leave a comment about her somewhere before??) - I've been meaning to check her out. We'll probably watch after It's a Wonderful Life ;)

Bill O'Reilly's Kool Aid - Hee. We usually go to our city's jazz orchestra holiday performance, or the Nutcracker. We're missing both this year, so thanks for the info.

Okay, so it's December 31 and I'm just responding, but I watched Miss Thang sing her song and it was great. I never miss the opportunity to see her sing that song!
