The Other Side of Chaos

The extreme end of yesterday's picture. Paints, beads, spray sealer, brushes, embroidery floss, Beverly Cleary books, notebooks for art camp, old Nancy Drews, map pencils, polymer clay, photos, wire, art books, buttons, letters, back issues of "Cloth, Paper, Scissors" and "Home Companion", poster of George Harrison & address name a few things. Plus the rocker that used to sit in the nursery. I've logged a lot of hours in that chair.

School starts Monday. I love my kids, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready to hear that bell ring once again. Do you hear it, people? It's the sound of freedom!

Uh...sorry kids. If you're reading this....Mom's just kidding.

I love rocking chairs and I know exactly what you mean about school starting. Once they are out of sight you will miss them though.

Your line about the bell meaning freedom made me laugh because it immediately brought to mind a school in Okinawa, Japan. I worked there, and sometimes we would have a bet about which teacher would make it out the door first -- sometimes I think they beat the students out -- especially if it was a "holiday bell" and the teacher was headed to the airport. Freedom, indeed.

I could sit in this room for hours. Just give me a steaming hot cup of coffee. And Rock, you can't "clean" this kind of space. You have to get lost in it. And this is from the girl whose clothes hang in color order!

I loved the Ramona books. I thought it was great that she named her doll Chevrolet.

And Nancy Drew? I liked staring at the covers more than I did reading them, I think.

I only have one kid left at home and - much as I love her, I also love it when she has something to do! I just read all your stuff, (well at least all the way to the bottom of the page) and it's great!

*Reaches for wall* Omg... What a beautiful, eclectic, amazing MESS! If I ever came over, you'd find me staring in wonder at the thing. You'd have to bait me away with coffee.

Wanted to de-lurk to wish you a HAPPY DE-LURKING WEEK!

I found you a couple of weeks ago and you've become a regular read for me. So I wanted to stop by and say hello.

That room looks pretty cozy to me, Wordgirl. I could hide out there with Ramona the Pest --- no problem.

It would be me and that chair and The Mystery of the Old Clock, The Ghost of Larkspur Lane and The Hidden Staircase for hours on end. That room looks like a great hideaway.
